Zipline, Na Muang

The second zipline course, strung above the Na Muang valley — easy to bolt onto a waterfall morning.

Why go

The second zipline course, strung above the Na Muang valley in the middle of the island. Its advantage is geography: it is a few minutes from both waterfalls, so a single morning covers cables and water.

What you will find

Shorter than the Hin Lad circuit and closer to the ring road, with the jungle of the interior below. Combine it with Na Muang 1 for an easy morning, or with Na Muang 2 if you want the climb as well.

Good to know

Same valley as Na Muang 1 and 2; do all three in one trip.

Worth knowing before you go

The valley access road is shared with the trekking camp; make sure the pick-up is taking you to the zipline and not to the elephants.

Wat Khunaram — the mummified monk

Luang Pho Daeng died in meditation in 1973 and sits in a glass case, sunglasses on, exactly as he asked to be left. Odd, calm, and entirely serious.

Na Muang 2

The big one: eighty metres of water down a rock face, twenty to twenty-five minutes uphill from the first fall. Dry to a trickle in March and April.

Na Muang 1

An eighteen-metre fall over purple rock, five minutes' walk from the car park, with a pool deep enough to swim in when the river is up.
