Na Muang 2

An eighteen-metre fall over purple rock, five minutes' walk from the car park, with a pool deep enough to swim in when the river is up.
Na Muang 1 is the waterfall everyone can reach: eighteen metres of water over a wall of purple-tinged rock, five minutes' walk from the car park on a flat path, with a pool at the bottom deep enough to swim in when the river is running.
The colour of the rock is what makes it, a dark violet granite that turns almost black when wet. From October to January the flow is strong and the pool is cold and worth the swim; by March and April it can be down to a trickle over dry stone. A few stalls at the entrance sell drinks and grilled corn.
Free. Ignore anyone at the entrance selling you a ride to reach it.
People at the car park will offer a « compulsory » ride to the falls, or an elephant. Neither is compulsory and we do not send anyone to the elephants, the walk to Na Muang 1 is five flat minutes.
