The tour in a nutshell
The middle of Samui is a granite dome six hundred metres high, and everything worth seeing up there is at the end of a road that a rented scooter cannot climb. Not should not — cannot. The concrete is steep, broken in places, and slick with run-off after rain. It is where visitors get hurt on this island, week after week.
So this day exists for one reason: the vehicle. A 4×4 and a driver who takes those four roads several times a week turns the most dangerous half-day on Samui into the best one.
You get the two balancing rocks above Lamai and the terrace that looks down the whole south-east coast; the ridge above Chaweng, four hundred metres up, with the lake and the airport below; and a jungle garden of moss-covered statues that a farmer started laying out in 1976 and never finished.

- The Chaweng ridgeThe climb to the Jungle Club terrace for the last view, a cold drink, and the way down before the light goes.

💡 Good to know
🚙 Why a 4×4: the tracks to the Jungle Club and the Secret Buddha Garden are steep broken concrete with drops. Two-up on a rented scooter is how people end up at Bangkok Hospital Samui.
🎟️ Two small fees: Overlap Stone and Cobra Stone share one ticket, and the Secret Buddha Garden has its own. Both are collected on site, in cash.
🌦️ After heavy rain: we may swap the Secret Buddha Garden for another viewpoint — the last stretch of that road is not worth forcing when it is running with water.
👶 With children: fine, and they usually like the statues best. The drives between stops are short but bumpy.
🕐 Best times: the first hours after sunrise for clear air over the east coast, or late afternoon for the colour over Lamai bay.

Frequently asked questions
Why not just rent a scooter and do this myself?
Because of the roads, not the navigation. The tracks to the Jungle Club and the Secret Buddha Garden are steep, broken and slippery when wet, and they are the single most common way visitors get hurt on Samui. Every other viewpoint on the island — Lad Koh, the Lamai viewpoint, Apirom — is fine on two wheels and free, and we will happily tell you how to reach those on your own.
Is there much walking?
Not much: a few hundred metres at each stop, on uneven ground. The Secret Buddha Garden is the longest — allow half an hour there if you want to walk the whole loop up the slope.
Can we do this with the waterfalls in one day?
It makes a long day, but yes — the jungle safari covers the waterfalls and the interior, and we can build a full day that takes in both. Ask when you book and we will lay it out.
What if the weather closes in?
Views are the product, so if the hills are in cloud we will say so and propose another day or another plan rather than drive you up for nothing.
Do the entrance fees cost much?
They are small — the kind of amount you pay in cash at a gate. We do not publish figures here because they change; your guide will tell you the current price before you pay it.
