A sixteen-metre statue of Guan Yu, the Chinese god of war, red-faced and holding his guandao, looking out to sea at Hua Thanon. It went up in 2016 for the island's Chinese community and is still barely on the tourist circuit.
The shrine sits right on the coast road with the sea behind it, so it takes ten minutes and rewards a walk around the base, where the reliefs tell his story. Combine it with the Hua Thanon fish market next door and Wat Sila Ngu five minutes north.
