Chaweng night market
The stalls along Chaweng Beach Road: skewers, pad thai, tailors and copies. Louder and more touristy than the rest, but open when everything else has closed.
Open≈ 1.1 km
A golden chedi on a hill behind the airport, reached by a short steep road. Chaweng lake on one side, the runway and the sea on the other.
A golden chedi on a hill behind the airport, and the cheapest panorama on Samui: Chaweng lake on one side, the runway, the north coast and Koh Phangan on the other. Free, and five minutes off the ring road.
A short, steep concrete road climbs to a car park at the top, then a few dozen steps to the chedi platform. Late afternoon is the hour — planes come in low over the water and the light turns the lake gold. It is a real temple, quiet, with a monk's residence beside it.
Best at the end of the day, when planes come in low over the water. Free.
The access road is steep enough that an underpowered scooter with two people will struggle; walking up from the bottom takes about fifteen minutes.
