Fisherman's Village, Bophut
Two hundred metres of Sino-Portuguese shophouses turned into restaurants and bars, on the sand at Bophut. On Friday evening the street closes and becomes the island's best walking street.
Open≈ 1.2 km
Darker, golden sand on the north coast, calm water and almost no jet skis. Fisherman's Village sits at its eastern end.
Bophut has darker, golden sand, calm water and no jet skis, and Fisherman's Village sits at its eastern end. It is the best beach on the island for the sort of evening where dinner starts with your feet in the sand.
The water is shallower than on the east coast and the view north takes in Koh Phangan. Small, older hotels line the middle of the beach; the restaurants and bars concentrate in the village. On Friday evening the village street closes to traffic and turns into the island's best walking street.
Best beach on the island for a sunset drink with your feet in the sand.
Swimming is comfortable at high tide only — at low tide the water goes out a long way.
